The National Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association – Young Lawyers Forum (NBA-YLF), Timothy Clement, was honoured to attend as a Special Guest at the recently concluded NBA-YLF Garki Branch Law and Inclusive Development Summit, held on 4th June 2025.
The summit, themed “Setting the Pace: Young Lawyers as Drivers of Transformative Change,” provided a powerful platform for reflection, dialogue, and inspiration. The theme resonated strongly with the current realities of the legal profession, calling on young lawyers to move beyond passive participation and take on active roles in shaping governance, influencing policy, and driving meaningful societal change.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman emphasized the critical role of young lawyers as catalysts for transformation within the legal profession and beyond. He highlighted the importance of engagement in governance, policy-making, and advocacy, urging young practitioners to leverage their skills, knowledge, and position to effect positive change in their communities and the broader society.
He also commended the leadership of the NBA-YLF Garki Branch for organizing a thoughtful and impactful summit, noting that such initiatives are essential in awakening consciousness, inspiring purpose, and strengthening the collective voice of young lawyers.
Furthermore, the Chairman shared key achievements of the NBA-YLF under the current administration and reaffirmed the Governing Council’s commitment to actively engaging with branches across the federation. This, he noted, is crucial to fostering stronger collaboration, deeper inclusion, and a more unified Forum.
As the summit concluded, there was a shared sense of optimism that the conversations and insights generated would translate into meaningful action and lasting impact within the legal profession and society at large.
