The Nigerian Bar Association – Young Lawyers Forum (NBA-YLF) extends its appreciation to the organizers and host city of the 2025 Annual Conference of the African Bar Association, held from 19th to 23rd October 2025 at the prestigious Labadi Beach Hotel, Greater Accra, Ghana.
Attending the conference was both a privilege and a valuable opportunity for engagement at a continental level. Convened under the thought-provoking theme, “Foreign Interests in Africa: Exploitation or Investment,” the conference brought together legal practitioners, scholars, policymakers, and thought leaders from across Africa and beyond. The discussions were rich, insightful, and timely—challenging participants to critically examine the role of foreign involvement in Africa’s economic and political landscape.
Represented by the Chairman of NBA-YLF, Timothy Clement Esq. the conference provided a platform to connect, collaborate, and learn from some of the most experienced and forward-thinking legal minds. Through panel sessions, networking engagements, and cross-border exchanges, participants gained deeper insights into the complexities of international investment, regulatory frameworks, and the role of law in safeguarding Africa’s interests.
Beyond the learning experience, the conference served as a call to action. As emphasized during the engagements, African lawyers must rise to the occasion—to advocate for policies, frameworks, and systems that promote sustainable development, economic justice, and political stability across the continent. The responsibility lies not only in understanding the issues but in actively shaping the solutions that will define Africa’s future.
The NBA-YLF remains committed to fostering such engagements that broaden perspectives, strengthen capacity, and position young lawyers as key contributors to continental discourse and development.
Thank you, Greater Accra, for the warm reception and for hosting a truly impactful conference.
Timothy Clement
National Chairman, NBA-YLF
