  • NBA Leadership provides Free Digital Stamp & Seal Access for Young Lawyers

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has officially relaunched its Digital Stamp and Seal, originally introduced under the administration of Mr. Y. C. Maikyau, SAN. The upgraded platform has been redesigned to be faster, more user-friendly, and widely accessible, reflecting the Association’s ongoing commitment to modernizing legal practice in Nigeria and ensuring the integrity of legal documentation across the country.

A significant feature of this relaunch is the special focus on young lawyers, made possible through the efforts of Mazi Afam, who has ensured that every young lawyer in Nigeria can now access the Digital Stamp and Seal free of charge. Eligible young lawyers—those 1–7 years post-call who have paid their 2026 Bar Practising Fee—stand to benefit from this landmark development. In total, over 30,000 early-career lawyers nationwide are expected to gain immediate access to this essential tool, greatly reducing financial barriers for young professionals entering the legal market.

The Digital Stamp and Seal is a mandatory requirement for the authentication of legal documents, serving as a critical safeguard against forgery, impersonation, and the circulation of documents by unqualified or fake practitioners. By making this resource freely available to young lawyers, the NBA is not only protecting the integrity of the profession but also equipping the next generation of legal practitioners with the tools needed to practise safely, credibly, and efficiently.

Beyond cost savings, the initiative plays a broader strategic role in the development of young lawyers’ careers. It allows early-career practitioners to establish professional credibility, gain client confidence, and navigate the legal sector with the assurance that their documents and practices meet national standards. It also positions young lawyers to compete effectively in an increasingly technology-driven legal environment, providing a foundation for sustainable career growth and long-term professional success.

The NBA has urged all eligible young lawyers to regularise their practising status for 2026 and promptly apply for their Digital Stamp and Seal, taking full advantage of the simplified application process. This initiative is a practical demonstration of the NBA’s commitment to professional excellence, access to justice, and the empowerment of young lawyers as the future leaders of the Bar.

By prioritizing young lawyers in this manner, the NBA has sent a clear message: the future of the Nigerian legal profession depends on supporting early-career practitioners, providing them with modern tools, and fostering a culture of credibility, innovation, and professional integrity.
