History was made on July 11, 2025, as the Nigerian Bar Association – Young Lawyers Forum (NBA-YLF) successfully hosted its maiden New Wigs Induction Ceremony, themed “New Voices, New Perspectives.” The landmark event marked a significant milestone for the Forum, formally welcoming over 3,000 newly called lawyers into the Nigerian Bar Association and introducing them to the structures, opportunities, and vibrant community of the Young Lawyers Forum.
The ceremony brought together distinguished leaders of the Bar and the judiciary, underscoring the importance of guiding the next generation of legal practitioners. Among the notable guests were Prof. Isa Hayatu Chiroma, SAN, Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, and Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, alongside other eminent members of the legal profession. Prof. Chiroma, SAN chaired the occasion, while Chief Obegolu, SAN delivered an inspiring keynote address that offered practical guidance and encouragement to the newly inducted lawyers on how to navigate and succeed within the profession.
The induction ceremony was formally conducted by the NBA General Secretary, Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara, who officially welcomed the new wigs into the Nigerian Bar Association and the Young Lawyers Forum. The event also served as an orientation platform, providing the new lawyers with insights into the various sections, forums, and programs within the NBA that support professional growth, mentorship, and engagement.
In reflecting on the success of the event, the Chairman of the NBA-YLF Governing Council, Timothy Clement, expressed deep appreciation to the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN, for his unwavering support and commitment to the development of young lawyers across the country. His leadership and encouragement, he noted, played a crucial role in making the historic induction ceremony possible.
Special commendation was also extended to the NBA-YLF Governing Council members and the planning committee, whose dedication and collaborative efforts ensured the successful organization of the inaugural ceremony.
