In a major boost to the welfare and professional development of young lawyers, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, has launched a dedicated Co-Working Space for Young Lawyers at the NBA National Secretariat, Abuja.
The initiative, delivered under the Timothy Clement–led Young Lawyers’ Leadership, reflects a deliberate commitment by the NBA to address the real and immediate challenges facing early-career legal practitioners, particularly unemployment, underemployment, and lack of access to professional workspaces.
Designed as a functional and inclusive environment, the co-working space provides young lawyers with a dignified setting to meet clients, work, collaborate, build networks, and remain actively engaged in legal practice, even in the absence of traditional firm structures.
The project was executed through the NBA Welfare Committee, under the leadership of Chief James Onoja, SAN, who personally funded and donated the facility to the Association as a strategic intervention in support of young lawyers.
Commending the project, the NBA President described the co-working space as a practical response to the needs of young lawyers, noting that it aligns with the NBA’s broader vision of strengthening the profession by investing in its future.

The President further acknowledged the coordinating role of the Welfare Secretary, Mr. Auta Nyada, whose efforts ensured the facility was fully completed and operational at the time of its unveiling.
In recognition of exemplary service and lasting contributions to the legal profession, the NBA announced that the facility has been named the Kanu Agabi, CON, SAN Co-Working Space, in honour of the former Attorney-General of the Federation.
For the Young Lawyers’ Forum (YLF), the is a statement of inclusion, opportunity, and institutional support, reinforcing the NBA’s commitment to empowering young lawyers to thrive, innovate, and remain relevant in a rapidly evolving legal landscape.
